On Friday, June 14, 2013, many of the PEF Services team made their fourth annual trip to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) located in Hillside, NJ to volunteer their time. The PEF team sorted through clothing for the FoodBank Thrift Store and assembled 732 food bags for the Helping Hands program that provides weekly backpacks filled with nutritious food to children of lower-income families.“For the past four years, we have found this to be a very rewarding experience. We wanted to give back to the community by volunteering for a meaningful cause and feel like we were making a difference” said Anne Anquillare, President and Co-Founder of PEF Services.
“Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the FoodBank and we could not accomplish our mission of fighting hunger and poverty without them. We are grateful for all of the volunteers from PEF Services who accomplished so much while they were here. Whatever those hands and hearts touched helps us to reach the 900,000 people we serve annually in the state of New Jersey. We look forward to having the group return to volunteer soon,” said Faye Kuhn, Director of Volunteer Services, Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
Since CFBNJ incorporation in 1982, they have grown in both the size and scope of their operation. Each year they feed 900,000 hungry people and distributed almost 500 million pounds of food valued at roughly one billion dollars.
