Private Equity Manager, a leading publication in the private equity industry, featured Anne Anquillare, founder and president of PEF Services LLC, on a panel discussion regarding fund administration for private equity firms. She was accompanied on the panel by Steve Schaefer, CFO, Graycliff Partners; John Truehart, CFO, Hudson Ventures; and Jim Cass, Executive Vice President, SEI. The discussion was hosted by PEM editor, Nicholas Donato, who focused the discussion on the growing trend among private capital funds toward fund administrators.
During the roundtable discussion, Anne emphasized the need for fund administration among small and emerging managers to help them scale their firm. She noted that fund administration is very different for a small and emerging managers than large funds managers and advised managers to find the right size administrator for their fund.
Anne agreed with the CFOs that the fund should control the information and quality of work. She emphasized a team approach is needed in order to develop a level of “trust, communication and coordination between the client and their team at the fund administrator”. She believes that when the administrator and the CFO team work collaboratively the fund ultimately benefits from the administrator’s expertise and industry-wide perspective.
